Neutral + Natural with Warmth: Paint Selections for The Getaway

by Claire Zinnecker

When I began designing our Hill Country Getaway project, my goal was to create a space that reflected my design aesthetic while also inviting anyone who stepped inside to feel instantly at home. Given that we decided to sell the property, I wanted the design to be versatile and relate less to me and more to the surrounding hill country so that my imagined client would be able to come in and make it their own. I knew the paint colors needed to be neutral, yet warm and welcoming—just the way a ranch casita should feel.

Exterior Paint:

  • Main Color: Sherwin Williams White Dove
  • Front Door: Sherwin Williams Oil Cloth

Interior Paint:

  • Living Areas & Bathroom Walls: Sherwin Williams Alabaster
  • Kitchen Cabinets: Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige
  • Hall Bath Paneling: Sherwin Williams Balanced Beige
  • Primary Bath Vanity: Sherwin Williams Aesthetic White
  • Primary Bath Paneling: Sherwin Williams Balanced Beige
  • Hutch: Sherwin Williams Old White

Why These Colors Work

  1. Connection to Nature: The palette is inspired by the surrounding landscape, from the muted tones of limestone to the soft beiges and greens of the Hill Country nature.
  2. Timeless Appeal: Neutral tones and soft accents ensure the home feels fresh and stylish for years to come.
  3. Flexibility: These colors provide a perfect backdrop for personal touches, whether you prefer minimalist decor or bold accents.
